Senior Trading Application Support Analyst

About this role 

We are seeking a seasoned Trading Application Support Analyst to join our multi-strategy hedge fund team. This role is crucial in maintaining the smooth operation of our trading systems and applications, ensuring minimal disruption to our trading activities. Working staggered shifts to cover global trading times and occasional weekend work is required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all trading application issues, both in-house and vendor-provided.

  • Proactively monitor and maintain trading systems, identifying potential problems before they impact operations.

  • Provide first-level support for trading applications, including troubleshooting issues with external vendor systems.

  • Manage the escalation process for complex issues, liaising with vendor support teams and internal stakeholders.

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with vendor support teams to ensure efficient problem resolution.

  • Create and update documentation on troubleshooting processes and escalation procedures.

  • Collaborate with traders and middle office personnel to understand their needs and optimize system configurations.

  • Participate in vendor system upgrades and testing to ensure minimal disruption to trading activities.

  • Conduct regular system health checks and performance analysis.

  • Assist in user training for both in-house and vendor applications.

Requirements 

  • 5+ years of experience in financial technology support, preferably in a hedge fund or investment bank environment.

  • Strong understanding of trading operations and common trading application platforms.

  • Hands-on experience with at least two of the following systems: FlexTrade, Tradeweb, Markitwire, Orchestrade, TS Imagine, or Trading Technologies.

  • Experience with virtualization/remote access technology such as Citrix.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex, multi-system issues.

  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Experience in managing vendor relationships and escalation processes.

  • Familiarity with SQL, APIs, and common trading protocols (e.g., FIX).

  • Ability to work flexible hours to cover global trading time zones and respond to critical issues.

  • Willingness to be on-call on a rotational basis for after-hours support.

  • Adaptability to learn new systems and technologies quickly.

Nice-to-Haves 

  • Experience with specific e-trading platforms, either on the buy-side, sell-side, or as a platform provider.

  • Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and data protection regulations.

  • Familiarity with at least one scripting language.

  • Experience working with both Windows Server and UNIX/Linux environments.

  • ITIL v3/v4 certification.

  • Service Management knowledge.

  • Experience with messaging protocols such as SOAP, JMS, or MQ.

  • Knowledge of database management.
