Senior Software Development Engineer in Test

About this role 

We are seeking a detail-oriented Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to join our multi-strategy hedge fund team. An SDET is a unique blend of pure testing and pure software development. The ideal candidate will be someone skilled in both development and QA, passionate about ensuring our software solutions meet the highest standards of reliability, efficiency, and user experience. 

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and execute automated tests across our product suite, while also being prepared to conduct manual QA testing when necessary. 

• Work closely with developers to ensure the quality of code through code reviews, automated tests, and by helping engineers level up in their roles. 

• Identify, document, and prioritize defects and bugs, and collaborate with the team for timely resolutions. 

• Enhance the continuous integration/continuous deployment pipeline for improved testing and release efficiency. 

• Employ a combination of black box and white box testing techniques to ensure comprehensive test coverage. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and translate them into test scenarios. 

• Design and implement automation for test cases, scripts, toolings, and the automation framework. 

• Provide insights into test planning, execution, and quality metrics. 

Requirements 

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, related field, or equivalent work experience. 

• Strong experience in automated testing tools and frameworks such as Selenium, JUnit, TestNG, or Cucumber 

• Knowledge of software QA methodologies, tools, and processes. 

• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, or C++. 

• Demonstrates strong ownership, able to address production issues promptly and communicate the resolution process confidently to stakeholders without panicking.

• Familiarity with Microservice architecture and Kubernetes is a plus.

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to rapid change.  

Nice-to-Haves 

• Experience with performance and/or security testing. 

• Existing experience from an investment/trading environment is a strong plus. 

• Familiarity with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools, especially Terraform. 

• Knowledge in using AI-coding assistant tools such as Github Copilot.
