Middle Office Operations (AI / Automation Focus) Intern - Hong Kong & Singapore

About the Role

We are a dynamic and fast-growing multi-strategy hedge fund with global operations, currently expanding our Platform (Middle Office) function. Our lean, collaborative team offers significant opportunities for personal and professional growth. We are seeking a highly motivated Year 3 or Year 4 undergraduate student or recent graduate, ideally with a background in AI, to support daily trade operations across multiple asset classes and help build automation and AI-driven tools to improve the team’s workflows.

This is a hands-on role for someone who thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment and is eager to grow with the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with daily middle office workflows, including trade capture, lifecycle events, and reconciliation of positions and cash.

  • Support start-of-day and end-of-day (SOD/EOD) trade and position checks, monitor the middle office inbox and alerts, and escalating items requiring action.

  • Support broker and clearer onboarding, including tracking give-up agreements (GUA) and related documentation, and maintain trackers (e.g. GUA, IPO, settlements).

  • Assist with commission, fee and invoice processing, corporate actions, and periodic activities such as interest rate swap (IRS) compression, under supervision.

  • Help process trade confirmations and settlement instructions, and manage related documents and paperwork under supervision.

  • Assist with exception handling and issue resolution across trading desks and with counterparties, following established procedures.

  • Develop and maintain tools to automate workflow and efficiency, such as SOD/EOD checks, trade and position file downloads, broker invoice filing, and expiry reminders, using Python, VBA, Power Automate and AI/LLM tools, while maintaining appropriate human review and oversight.

  • Support data analysis and reporting for risk, performance and operational dashboards under the guidance of senior staff.

  • Collaborate with technology and business teams on system improvements as directed.

  • Document procedures, processes and system changes on platforms such as Confluence for use by the team and future interns.

  • Respond to ad hoc requests and regulatory/compliance data needs as assigned.

  • Help the team meet daily deadlines while maintaining quality and accuracy.

Key Requirements

  • Year 3 or Year 4 undergraduate student studying finance, economics, mathematics, computer science, data science, AI or a related field, based in Hong Kong or Singapore. Recent graduates are also welcome to apply.

  • A background in AI or machine learning through coursework, projects or internships is strongly preferred, particularly experience with LLMs, prompt engineering or AI-based workflow automation.

  • Proficiency in Python, SQL or similar programming or query languages for automation and data handling. Excel proficiency is required; experience with VBA or Power Automate is a plus.

  • A solid foundation in finance, including an understanding of the trade lifecycle, financial instruments and basic risk concepts. Exposure to derivatives is a plus.

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.

  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks, and meet tight deadlines.

  • Effective communication and teamwork skills, with a willingness to learn and collaborate.

  • Availability for a full-time, six-month internship.

  • Eligibility to work in Hong Kong or Singapore.

  • Willingness to perform supervised manual processing and administrative tasks as part of the team’s daily workflows.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to join a high-performing, collaborative team at the heart of Asia's financial hub.

  • Hands-on exposure to multi-asset trade operations and cutting-edge investment strategies.

  • Real automation and AI projects with a tangible impact on the team's workflow.

  • Competitive remuneration and opportunities for professional development within a rapidly growing fund.

  • The opportunity to work closely with senior leadership and contribute to the team’s operational improvements.
