Role Overview
The Central Trading Desk (CTD) serves as the firm’s hub for cross-asset execution coordination, liquidity management, and market analytics. As a CTD Intern, you will support the desk in analyzing trading activity, managing data and reporting, and coordinating with investment and operations teams on execution-related workflows. This role provides a comprehensive view of institutional trading processes — spanning market structure, order flow, execution quality, and equity capital markets (ECM) coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Support trading analytics and performance reporting, including transaction cost analysis (TCA), liquidity studies, and execution benchmarking across asset classes.
Assist in ECM coordination and new issue monitoring, tracking deal calendars, allocations, and post-deal performance to support investment teams and traders.
Maintain and enhance trading-related data sets, dashboards, and internal reports to improve visibility and decision-making across the desk.
Collaborate with trading, operations, and risk teams to analyze trade workflows, identify bottlenecks, and propose process or automation improvements.
Prepare daily trading summaries, market updates, and desk reports for senior traders and portfolio managers.
Provide ad hoc analytical support to the desk on best execution and trade management topics as required.
Learning Outcomes
Deep exposure to institutional trading operations, market microstructure, and execution workflows across asset classes.
Practical understanding of ECM processes, including deal coordination, allocation tracking, and new issue analytics.
Hands-on experience with trading data analysis, performance metrics, and system-driven workflow improvement.
Cross-functional collaboration experience with Trading, Operations, Risk, and Portfolio Management teams.
Enhanced proficiency in Bloomberg, Excel, and Python/VBA/SQL for data analysis and process automation.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree candidate in Finance, Economics, Engineering, Data Science, or a related discipline.
Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with a keen interest in trading and market dynamics.
Proficiency in Excel and data analysis tools; programming experience (Python/VBA/SQL) preferred.
Detail-oriented, organized, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team setting.
Demonstrated interest in financial markets, particularly in trading, market structure, and ECM activity.
